I am 43 years old this year. I have a 5-year-old daughter and a 3-year-old son. Spiritually, I was baptized as a child. However, as an adult, I let the busyness of life take priority over my relationship with God.

I was first diagnosed with breast cancer two years ago, just before my son’s first birthday. At that time, I accepted that it was my lot in life. I focused on powering through treatment by my own strength so that I could get back to my life.

I completed surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation by June 2024. My scans in December 2024 were clear, and I felt well physically.

Therefore, it came as a shock when, in March 2025, scans picked up a lesion in my liver — my breast cancer had metastasized. My doctors were very surprised, as tests showed that the cells in my liver were a different subtype from the original cancer in my breast.

I broke down at that point. I was filled with negative thoughts; I couldn’t understand why God would bless me with two wonderful children and then take their mum away from them.

In that lowest point in my life, I found Pastor Robin’s book, which my mum had left for me at home. As I read about God’s love, I still questioned why He would put my kids through this, so I messaged Pastor Robin. With Pastor Robin’s help and guidance, I slowly got myself out of the darkness, and I clung to two things he shared:

Don’t focus on the negative; there is hope until the doctors say there are no more treatments available.

Proverbs 3:5-6, which resonated with me: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make straight your path.”

I went through chemotherapy again, this time while rebuilding my relationship with God. I pray and thank God for each day that I have with my family. When I get anxious, I lean on God by repeating Psalm 56:3: “When I am afraid, I put my trust in You.”

I praise and thank God that my recent scan results were good! I now focus on trusting God, remembering His faithfulness, and walking with Him one day at a time.
